Passivation

Chemical passivation that restores stainless steel corrosion resistance.

About this finish

Passivation is a chemical treatment—typically nitric or citric acid based—that removes free iron and other contaminants from stainless steel surfaces and helps form a protective chromium-oxide film. It improves corrosion resistance after machining, welding, or fabrication without depositing a metallic coating.
